I saw the post that already told about this, but mine does not exactly fit this. Please tell me what I can do to Convert this 220 to 110. My outlet has a black wire, a white wire and a bare wire. Someone told me that I could take the black wire and hook it to a new receptacle, attach the bare wire to the opposite side of the receptacle, and wire-nut the white wire. I did all this and the receptacle does not work. Can someone help me?

First of all you need to check the circuit pannel and find the double pole breaker associated with this circut. Secondly remove the breaker and replace it with a single pole breaker of the same amperage. Next take the white wire that was on the double pole breaker and connect it to the netural bar in the pannel. Then change the outlet coneccting the black wire to the dark (copper)screw and the white wire to the silver colored screw. The bare needs to be connected to the green screw. Also make sure the bare is connected either to the ground bar or the netural bar depending on the age of your pannel. Newer pannels have a seperate bonding bar screwed directly to the box.
