2 ceiling levels in same room

02/13/2005 12:54 AM jawibe

I wish to have an inner ceiling starting at 2 ' from the existing dimensions of the room. This new ceiling level will be defined with crown moulding at a 45 degree angle towards the outer walls of room. THe new ceiling level will be approximately 5 inches below the existing and it will stop within 5 feet of the center of the room. I wish to stop the new level because of an existing ceiling fan in the center of the room. I would also like to add lights behing the crown moulding on the outer square. The inner square will be 5' by 5' and that will not have any lights behind the crown moulding because of the ceiling fan with lignts attached to it. I do not know if this would look good at all. I have never seen this before but thought it would be a design to the ceiling to highlight it when you come into the room.
If this is crazy let me know. I will not have any harsh feelings.
