I was ready to throw my lock miter through the window until i found this little gizmo at Sommerfeldtools. It is one of the best router gadgets ever. See the link below.

yo...that is cool huh....but the problem i have with mitring plywood is that plywood isnt the same thickness the whole way through a sheet...they roll this stuff out and cut it after they lam the sheet together so you get ...like roller impressions ....so when you line the mitre up it isnt perfect....i might be nuts.....this is a big reason i dont run dados in case work with plywood ..there ends up being gaps....i cut to fit inside them use a biscut to keep it together ...not that i do this type of stuff ....but i mostly just slap it together with ....the lengend Al and we face screw most stuff.....but i like the jig.....i have a bench dog with the micro ajustment ..and it works ****a!!!! |

I have never tried to Lock Miter plywood - i have always done as you have said - 45 cut w/ biscuit. The reason that i started lock mitering hardwood is that i found that i got little nicks and cuts on the fragile edge with a table saw. i could never get a perfect fit with a table saw without using some kind of wood putty. Any tips for cleaner 45s with a table saw blade - i'd prefer to do that. By the way, loved the howling - both of you. |

i think the first thing is ..you should have a zero tollorance insert ..you know... make sure you have the blade through the wood at 1/2 the gullet....i have a forrest blade... woodworker 2 and an amana... both work good...you need too keep good pressure on the board when you cut it...after i finish at the table saw i clean it up with a hand plane....it is wicked important to get mill marks off.... |
