A/C Duct Condensation

10/05/2002 12:24 PM Wino

I am having a problem with A/C duct condensaton causing ceiling spoting. One a/c guy advised me to cover my roof vents on the eave of the house to reduce ventilation be cause he said I have white roof syndrom, meaning my attic is not hot enough. Another A/C guy said He never heard of that and that I probably have leaky ducts that need to be taped or replaced. Any sugestions would be appreciated!

Insulate the ducts.
The reason for condensation is that warm, moist air comes in contact with the cool duct and this causes the condenstion.
If you insulate the cool duct from the warm air, no condenstion will occur.

I've been doing AC for years and I've never heard of an attic not being hot enough. Don't call this guy back. The ductwork is not insulated properly.
