A/C: Janitrol v/s Payne

Hello,

I am looking at getting an Central Airconditioner installed for my new home. (Colonial, Cath. ceiling, 2200 SqFt). A HVAC contractor stopped by and wants to install a "JANITROL" system. He swears by it and says that he's been using them for approx. 15 years and has had very little problems with it. He says its got the best warranty in the industry (5 years). Talking to him, I seemed convinced, but on reading the net, a lot of people do not have kind words to say about this unit. As an alternate proposal, he said he can install a "Payne" unit (same makers as Bryant & Carrier per this man).

I would greatly appreciate opinions on the "Janitrol" and the "Payne" central air conditioning units. You can either post it here for the benefit of other or email me directly at schalasani@k12.dserv.com

Thanks

SC
