Adjusting Shower Doors

08/23/2001 08:34 PM palmeralaska

I have shower doors with top and bottom pivot hinges. The door is starting to shift at an angle and are getting hard to close. There are set screws in the hinge assembly that appear to be for making adjustments. Any ideas on how I can adjust the shower door to improve alignment?

You should be able to make small adjustments by loosening the screws on the hinges and putting pressure on the opposite side of the door. For safety as well as having a second set of eyes,it would be easier with two people.Try to determine which of the hinges need adjusting prior to starting.

Something that might help with your adjustment is to make pencil marks there the hinges are now, so you can easily determine exactly how much you are moving things as you adjust. It's especially helpful if you're working alone.
