Air Vents for Patio Cover

05/09/2008 06:21 PM gardeninggal

I just had a patio cover built that is attached to my house. They did not install any air vents in the cover and when I asked them about it they said it was not needed.

They built it onto the house by only removing some hardiplank and then attaching a ledger board. That's the only part that was removed from the existing house.

I thought everything was okay but now it's hot outside and one spot on the 2nd story floor by the outside wall where the patio cover is attached - the floor is very warm - like the top of a clothes dryer would feel. I checked the whole length of the floor where the patio cover is attached and it's not warm anywhere else.

Is this going to be a problem? Should I have vents put in for air flow? Will that help?

Thanks!~
