I have a home built in the 1890's that was re-sided with Asbestos Siding at some point. We knew it was pretty safe to leave alone so we did so. On Friday a large tractor-trailer rig came down our street and caught the power line hooked to our home. Thankfully no fire happened, allthough there are burn marks on the siding (love this siding for that reason).
Anyway damage has been done to the siding and boards underneath where he ripped the weatherhead off the side of our home. We have about 6 pieces of siding (and one board) now laying in the yard. Some other pieces of siding on the house have been broken. An electrian has been out and replaced the weatherhead and restored power, and the power company had him send the bill to them, and said they would pay for additional charges to fix the house.
I will be calling contractors on Monday, but thought someone may be able to give me an idea of what to expect now. I know finding replacement siding is next to impossible and I am now worried about the broken siding and if we now have a hazard.
A little advice would be wonderful....
Thanks
