BUILDING A GIRLS BEDROOM IN A CLOSET

11/11/2004 07:36 PM jcoleman

Our master bedroom closet is 7' by 27', angled by the roof of the house, the wall on one side is 7 feet tall, the other end being 4 feet tall. We plan on building a wall to make the room 12' long; we plan on knocking the 4' wall out, extending it 5' and with the angle of the roof, creating a new 2' wall. This small area will be designed as a play area, dollhouse style, small and short enough for young kids to play in. So, now the room will be 12' by 12' with the roof angling from 7' tall to 2' tall in 12' of floor space. Questions: 1. How do I insulate the ceiling (between the ceiling and the roof) without tearing out the ceiling dry wall? 2. I want to cut a window into the roof, so our daughter can 'sleep under the stars' at night but have been told this could open up potential for leaks in the roof? Any advice? 3. I want to cut a window into the wall which leads into the entry way but don't know how to decorate it so the entry way looks like the window belongs .. I would be happy to send someone a picture of what I am talking about.? Can someone help me? Thanks for your time. Jamina
