Anyone have a killer 14" saw they want to recommend. I am looking at the deluxe rikon right now-I considered the steel city granite top but then I have to buy the riser...Oh and I dont want to spend 1,000-The 750 is tops on my budget. Thanks guys |

I recently upgraded my 14"Reliant to the rikon deluxe. I am running it at 110 and have resawed 10" mahogany (not the hardest stuff)with no problem. It was a toss up for me with the powermatic but I got the rikon on sale at woodcraft in NH (no sales tax)and I think for the difference in money the rikon is the way to go.
For what it is worth.

The Rikon 14 is a nice package for the money. Lots of nice features included as standard - roller guides, fence, tension release. About 2 months ago Woodcraft was featuring the Powermatic anniversary 14" bandsaw with riser, fence, and mobile base for $849. With the March sale less 10% it was a steal for unter $800 (darn close to your $750 ceiling). I don't know if that will be featured again any time soon. My older Delta 14" is well north of $1000 now. I bought it with upgraded motor, enclosed motor stand and riser and have since added a fence, Carter tension release and Carter roller guides. It is much cheaper to buy all the goodies as a package rather than adding on ala carte. Which is why the Powermatic was a great price.
FYI: Price increases on a lot of Jet and Powermatic tools will be going into effect this week. After comparison shopping you may find the Rikon to be a good option for features and $$$. |

Look around for a used one. I picked up my 20" jet for less than you want to spend. It's a great machine. I see industrial saws sell near me for less than 1k all the time. Check Craigs list, and eBay.-Tim |
