Basement Renovation

11/29/1998 07:53 PM

I am renovating my basement and the only sewer line is specifically for the washer (which is in the basement). My basement is poured concrete and I do not have a floor drain. What will I need to have done so that I can install a bathroom with a shower? Will I be able to tap that sewer line that the washer is using? It doesn't seem like that would be sufficient.

All of your sewer lines will eventually come together and they should all be of the same size (usually 3" or 4"). You most certainly should be able to use the sewer line. Since you are going to break up your concrete floor
for the shower, I would suggest adding a floor drain in the area also (good luck if one of your washer hoses burst, and they will). You may also consider adding a drain for a laundry tub. GOOD LUCK!!!!
