Looking to do prefinished hardwood in your home, think twice about Bellawood! We are building our dream home here in Virginia, and wanted to do something different for our 1st floor(2000 sq ft). We visited the Lumber Liquidators near us and decided to use the Golden teak in our new home. BAD IDEA! The flooring was delivered 30 days prior to installation. From the first carton the installers (30 years professional and residential experience) noticed that the boards we NOT TRUE. Our site manager also showed us where the finish was not done correctly on the ends and it was chipping after installation. We called L.L. and Bellawood(which are the same) and they promised a 2nd delivery a week later with NO problems. Well, the same problems have not delayed our finished our house for over 2 weeks. The second shipment was equally as bad. Seems that Bellwood exotics are shipped to the USA already milled, thus no quality control. Our new house is within 25-30 minutes from the L.L. store and the Bellawood factory, NO ONE CAME OUT TO SEE THE PROBLEM! Our site manager, the flooring installer and my husband and I all called and requested for someone to come and see the problems, no one showed. All they said was, don't worry we will fix the problem. My husband even sent an email to Tom Sullivan the owner of L.L. & Bellawood, and never received an email responce nor a call. We had to go with other prefinished flooring, because our settlement on our current home would not allow any more delays!
We choose Mullican Flooring, New River Hickory in the Saddle stain, random widths. The cost was only about 10% more. L.L. took the flooring back, but I wonder who they are going to sell it too! |
