Bombe sneak preview!

Image for: Bombe sneak preview!

Hi Guys, Tommy was too modest to post these shots of the Bombe as he dropped it off at the finishers today.... NOT! he forget his camera! This thing is a monster, it was within half an inch of the ceiling and completely impressive. I was afraid to go near it, seriously. The first pict is of the upper case, the second is of Tommy, Steve and the finisher, Kris. I did not have the correct lens to get the whole piece!
The second shot is posted below...

Bombe sneak peek

03/08/2008 07:25 AM BDuffany

"T",
I've been lurking in the shadows watching your awesome (and funny) podcasts during the bombe build. I have learned a lot and honestly couldn't believe it when you tore it apart at one point to "make it right". Anyways, that bombe is beautiful and these pics were enough to get me off my Duff and register on the forum to say congratulations job well done!

Thanks for asking.
Here is a headboard I am making out of walnut and cherry to match a blanket chest I made recently. Looks a little shiny due to a fresh coat of BLO being applied. Not a dteail oriented piece but my joinery is getting very much better as I continue to learn. This is for a king size matress and stands over 5 feet tall for a size perspective.

Holy Moly! That is gorgeous. That's some great lumber, good choice. Is it only oiled?

Eli

PS. How did it feel to finally finish it, Tom? Are you sad? It's unbelievable.

Monsieur Bombe

03/08/2008 08:02 PM NLamens

First off.......look'in good there Duff!!!

Now for Monsieur Bombe,..... Big-T, I'm beginning to think that the ceiling height in your shop is 7 foot. First we see the bottom, then we see the top.....JEEZ Chizz ya kill'in us!!!

The top treatment is off-the-hook!!

Is the cove molding up top get the filed hinge pin treatment also??

Jeez........there's alot of stuff in this piece Tom, like everybody else, glad to be a part of it's podcast history.
