Brass Door Knobs & Hardware |

This may be a crazy question. We have brass hardware on all of our interior doors. I was looking to change all of them with nickel or any other color, but the cost would be way too high. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to change the color of the existing harware. Is there some kind of chemical that may do that to them like in concrete applications? Has anyone run into this? |

The plating on hardware is applied in an electrolytic process applying a differential current to exchange metal ions between an anode and cathode in an acid bath. Not a viable DIY project. Sorry. |

Well darn, thanks for your time. I read that you could use acetone to strip the clear off and then use vineager to darken the metal on brass hardware. Is this not an option? Thanks
