CPVC to galvanized

First you need to use CPVC no PVC. At least for the hot.

To make the transistion you use a PVC fitting with a MALE pipe thread that you screw into a female pipe thread on a valve or a coupling.

I am not sure about the problem with the shutoff vavle. If it is leaking around the stem or won't completely shut off the flow.

In either case the valve can usually be fixed. If it is leaking around the stem it sometimes it just need tigthen the packing bonnet.

But I would replace it with a full port ball valve.

YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE A RELAIBLE SHUTTOFF VALVE THAT IS EASY TO OPERATE IN AN EMERGENCY.

Or if it is not practical to replace the existing one then install the ball valve downstream.
