I have had my *****-model Calypso for nearly two years without significant problems. Lint does collect at the top of the washer, hanging over the rail -- I remove it at the end of each cycle, and this keeps it from landing on the next load. Some fabrics seem to pick up extra lint, but the dryer always takes care of it. If I hang to dry, I put the dry garment in with the next dryer load for five minutes on low heat, and that usually takes care of both lint and any stiffness in the fabric from hanging to dry. The ***** delivery man installed the washer and I have had no problems with walking or noise -- in fact it is much quieter than my old agitator model. The loads don't get unbalanced. It is not so hard on the clothes as my old washer, either. I wash about half my loads in cold water, and I always use liquid detergent. I have had no trouble at all with chlorine bleach, but I use it only on whites so I probably wouldn't notice uneven distribution. Our tap water is relatively soft. I liked the Calypso washer so much I bought the companion dryer last year -- it too, has been a pleasure, although its auto-dry sensor doesn't really work. I just put the clothes in for a set number of minutes. |
