Hello I own a cape in CTR. My question is that my stairs are from the back of my house to the second floor, Most capes that i have seen are from the front of the house to the second floor. Is there a name for my type of Cape?????? looking to complete the second floor looking for a plan on the net but cant find any that has stairs from the back of a cape to the front. If you don't get any help here, maybe you can research out the house.

Find out, from the County Office, when the house was built. Depending on when the house was built, there may be neighbors that still live there (or that simply know) who built them. If the builder is around, see if they can tell you what's up.

You can ask other Builders too.

As an aside, my neighborhood is 30 years old. Only 1 lady is an original owner. I happened to ask why just 1 out of 17 homes in the development had a Hip Roof. She said the home was the 'Model House' at the time the homes were built, and that the Hip Roof was an option. She even had the original Brochures! Beings that I'm into doing Genealogy, I made copies.

Thanks Jay J I did look into that already My home was build in the early 40's and no is around from the old nieborhood. Thanks for you help maybe some out there will have an anwser for me. Nelson
