As far as your question about distance - Cat5e will handle distances far greater than anything you will encounter in residential construction. Also, you said where you attempted to plug rj45 into and you get no signal, there was a phone plugged into that same jack previously? Phone jacks and network jacks can be the same size, but will only serve one pourpose 99% of the time. Do you have a better description of the current setup? Thanks~ Adam |
