Caulking crown moulding

01/11/2000 02:07 PM bobkat

I've installed crown moulding in several rooms. And everytime, about 3-5 months later, my butt joints, wall intersections, and small gaps near the ceiling start to separate slightly requiring me to re-caulk. I secure the moulding to the studs and ceiling joist when possible and nailing blocks in other cases with an air nailer. But these gaps seem to haunt me later. Is this do to my house settling, which is 2 yrs old. What are some
"tricks-of-the-trade" to prevent these gaps?
