Central Vacuum Cleaning Systems

11/18/1998 09:25 AM

I have a split-level 25 year old home, am considering installing this system and am trying to get information, not advertising, about central systems. Are they really worth the price - I've been quoted about $1600 installed. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Would you put one in again if you had it all to do over? Any help/comments/references would be appreciated. Thanks

Central Vacuum Cleaning Systems

We had one installed when our house was being built. Would I do it again - YES!!!.

Are they good? Have you heard of KIRBY? Their salesman come to your house. I think its a cannister type vacuum that sells for around $1500. Anyway, we tell them we have a central vac and they simply go away. They know their vacuum can't compete.

The filters are better than a regular vacuum. And the unit is in the garage! No more bags to worry about.

And you won't have to sweep much for a while. Our kids, friends, relatives all had to try it out when they came over. Its almost as good as getting paid to let someone paint your fence.
