Chamfer

02/14/2008 11:03 AM Jeremy26

Has anyone done a lambs tongue at the end of a chamfer? I was looking at different chamfer details and came across the lambs tongue detail. It looked cool...I'm just not sure the best way to go about doing it. but here is what I came up with...make a template and trace onto the stock, rough it out with a chisel, and clean it up with a rasp and card scraper. Anyone got any better ideas?

Transistions

02/14/2008 08:29 PM NLamens

Jeremy and T-mac:

I have question:

Lets assume on pilaters on a large entertainment unit, with a router and 1/2 shank chamfer bit, mark a stop line with chisel run the chamfer and stop, raise the bit,on the last 6", chisel another stop mark run the chamfer, do the clean-up work on both.

Could this still be a lambs tongue, or is it specific to the short transition?? or worse yet have I misrepresented the Masters...again. haha

Hey Chizz........cool stuff pops up here.....NICE!!!

I am not sure about using the router to do this...the lambs tongue that I did was not that long, maybe only an inch, but anyway here is a picture of it...not a very good pic but still maybe you can get an idea of what it looks like..."peace out"!

i think they are for short runs......i think what you want to do is change the depth of the fluting on the pilasters...??? is that right....i think if you change the depth of cut ...you will also change the width right???so i think it will end up looking like it isn straight...if you do that on both ends of the pilaster it will look bowed...? i think ...try your idea on some scrap....i would like to see what the f your talking about....and yeah.....whats up with the table....we all want to see that crazy curvie thing done...chop chop!!
