Checkerboard Painting?

12/19/2001 11:46 PM crsnshl

I've alway's wanted a black and white checkerboard floor in my garage. My wife and I just bought a new house here in Arizona and she like's my idea as well for painting the garage floor. We bought the correct paint and everything else, but how do I lay out the pattern. Do I paint one color first? Or one square at a time?
Does anyone have another idea?

Chris in AZ.

Checkerboard Painting?

It would require far less time and effort to paint the entire floor white (or black), and then do the squares in the other color.
I think I'd mark the squares off with a pencil or removeable marker after the first color is down and dry. You could possibly use a chalk string, but it's easy to accidentally wipe away the lines as you work.
Depending on the size of the squares, you might want to make a template out of cardboard that you can tape to the floor to do a large section at a time.
I hope you have a lot of patience.
