Clothes Dryer in Basement

Can I get input, instructions, yeas or neys for installing a vent out of a basement for a clothes dryer that is installed in the basement? I have been told that a dryer should not be pu in the basement because the dryer fan can't push the air up and out of the dryer and through the vent as properly as it should, but I have also seen it done on home improvement shows. Which should it be? I have approximately 15 feet to get the vent to the outside.

Until 10-15 year ago, that is where most dryers were installed so I don't know whom is telling you stories.

Have you checked the appliance's installation instructions? It should state your particular dryer's venting requirements.
