I am in the process of bidding poured concrete foundation walls on my home and am trying to figure out how to do takeoffs for walls and compare to the takeoffs in the bids I've received. The footers seem easy in that they are by linear foot, but all the wall takeoffs seem to be different. Can anyone help me understand how to figure this out so I don't get taken advantage of? TX!

a dollar to pick up a dime.
what do you care about the quantities ?,,, you're already comparing apples & apples since all prices're bas'd on the prints, right ?
go w/the lowest price & feel happy when problems develop later,,, there's probably not 10% difference 'tween all prices, anyway,,, did all include rebar around window openings, waterstop 'tween the footer & walls, & an acceptable waterproofing coating ?,,, these're things you SHOULD consider when comparing this item - don't waste your time on things that aren't important.
when we built our 1st house, there was only 1 guy to call because he did the best work,,, matter of fact, never did get an estimate from him 'cause i knew the mkt prices,,, he was 10% higher & we waited a month so he could fit us into his schedule.
the mediocre are at their best every day ! |
