20x30 metal building/shop

I have a new 20 by 30 foot metal building which I plan to use as a small shop. Since the frames are metal, what would be the best location for the electrical outlets and how many in so far as spacing? Seems that I read somewhere that it would be better to put the outlets at eye level to keep from tangling in the cords etc?

It sounds like you need a book on electrical installations and codes. If you want juice to come out of these outlets, the job will have to pass inspection before it gets fired up.

For residences, we often have recepticles at 42". Code requirements for res is that no span of wall more 6than 12' shall be without a recepticle. For a shop, I want one every three or four feeet - and not all on the sme circuit!

Keep your lights on a separate circuit too. You don't want to trip the breaker some night and then have to trip over tools etc on the way to the service panel to trip it back on. Highly likely since tools can draw a good current under load.

Excellence is its own reward!
