Copper Pipeing

05/02/2008 07:41 PM boudreaued

Hi,

I have a oil furnace in the basement. From the furnace to the oil tank I have copper piping supplying the oil. The outside of the pipe is turning Green in spots, should the pipe be replaced?

Thanks

David

Going Green

More likely there isn't a need. If you start seeing evidence of acid corrosion on the tubing where it piles up an 1/8 inch or so, then there is something that is helping it corrode nearby. Cleaning the tubing with copper cleaner to see if there are pits can tell more.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
