I would like to construct several exterior corbels from 4x4 or 4x6 material to help support a small cover over a door. Similar supports I've seen used in my neighborhood have angled cuts on the upper and lower ends that end in points and dull points and squares and rectangles that are dimensionally smaller than the rest of the 4x4 or 4x6. How are these cuts layed out and made.
