Correct suggestion for Cement patio

05/22/2007 12:43 PM mjmann

I am planning on putting in a cement patio. This patio will not be right out from a door it will be beside our 3 season room and off our family room that has a bay window. I am torn between putting the cement right up to the house and angle away from the house for water run off. The other option is to leave an 18 inch grass space between the house and the cement pad (still angles away from house). Other than cosmetic issues - what would be the best solution. The cement will have to be about 3 inches up the house brick to give a proper grade. The one concern is the 3 season room that has wood siding (soon to be replaced). The cement will have to run above the cement footer of that room and be up agaist the wood (most likely the 2 x4 under the siding. What are peoples suggestions/comments on how to install this patio. Should I go up the house or leave a grassy spot between the patio and house?
