Crack In Oak Kitchen Table base

I have a question regarding how to repair a crack that probably occurred during moving on my claw-foot oak kitchen table. I guess that the movers must have put too much weight on top of it and the table has a crack or separation at the seam that measures about 1/8 inch wide and about 24 inches long. I was wondering if there is a fairly easy repair that I could do myself. If not, I will probably just replace it. However, I really like this table but the crack is a real eye-sore and is getting worse over time. BTW, I am not an experienced woodworker but am quite handy at times. Help!?
