I would like to obtain some sash locks that fit on the checkrail in the center of Curtis double hung windows . Can anyone help with this?

Curtis Silentite locks

Pretty much any sash lock that you can buy at the local hardware store will work on a Curtis Silentite window, and conversely the Curtis double hung lock would have worked on other brands of double hungs. Curtis went out of business long ago. See the attached picture for a Curtis lock vs. my recommendation of a good replacement lock to get.

My recommendation would be to get the Restoration lock made by Truth hardware if you want an old-time retro look. See attached or go to

For a bit more modern look and an excellent performer, I'd choose Truth's Entryguard II, go to

Thanks for the reply; I am aware that I can use any lock, but I especially want the Curtis type that are hinged and swing up against the glass. again thanks Phil

Curtis Silentite Window Latch

Keep us posted if you ever find a place to get these. I'm looking for them as well. Window manufacturers take note; these windows are extremely well made in my opinion.

These windows were installed new in 1950 at my home and still operate with the use of one hand. The original hardware works superbly.

I've attached a photo for reference.

How many of these do you need? I have some that I took off of my windows when I repainted and remodeled? Send me an email and let me know. t_thom76@yahoo.com

I have found some other latches to take their place, but could probably use some anyway. How much would you want for them?
