Cutting ceramic tile

Trying to cut hole in ceramic tile for around faucets.Have tried cutting through with starting with tiny hole made through glaze and then onto a masonry bit.Have kept tile wet also when drilling 'cause were told to do that also. Tiles keep breaking! Any suggestions? Running out of tiles!

Erika,

Depending in the size hole hole you need will depend on the best solution for your hole. First of all is your tile actually ceramic or is it porcelain? If it is ceramic and your breaking tiles, your bit is either dull, your putting to much pressure on the bit. If your tile is porcelain your best way is to purchase a caride-tipped hole saw.

If you have a dremel tool they have dimond, and other abrasive cutting bits that will cut tile. Purchas the proper cutter for the type tile you have. If you are only making one or two holes this will save you quie a bit of $.. It does take a wile to cut though.
