Dehumidifier recommendations needed.

02/20/2003 03:21 PM woodyak

My new house is overly humid and needs dehumidification. I plan on installing bathroom and hood vents as well as running a pellet stove in the basement during the winter. I plan on buying a dehumdifier and having it drain directly into the sump pump system. It will be in the basement that will probably get down to 60 degrees in the winter. The house is 1600 square feet and is very tight. Any recommendations on what brand and size to get?

Most dehumidifiers will not operate properly at that temperature (see the following link).

You'll most likely need to purchase one designed for lower temperatures. Whirlpool's the only company *I* know that makes such a unit for household use.
