We just bought a home with a discolored vinyl floor in the kitchen. We had seen this happen once before due to the wrong kind of plywood underlay. Eventually we will use ceramic tile but for now can we lay vinyl squares over this floor without first sealing it? Sure don't want this yellow appearance to come through the next layer of floor! Thanks much.

Have you tried to clean it yet?

Use a good strong cleaner and a stiff brush to get thru the grime...........You may not need to install the floor tiles........
