I have an electric drop-in range, and would love to have gas. Is there such a bird or would I have to change to free standing.

I do not believe anyone manufacturers a GAS drop-in range any longer. It's probably been 20+ years since they were available.

The closest would be a slide-in model (see the following link) which would likely require at least some cabinetry work to allow it to stand on the floor.
