Has anyone used dry lock to seal a shower prior to appling the thin set and ceramic tiles. I have built a masonary bench in the shower and have cementious wall boards up. My soncern is to seal the masonary bench. On the cementious wall boards I have floated them plumb with type 2 thin set.

Will I be able to apply thin set and tiles to the bench and walls if I have used dry lock first ?

I've never seen or heard of Dry Loc. Apparently it's a painters thing. However I do do a lot of tile. I have yet to see a bag of thinset that says it will stick to anything sealed. We grind sealers off concrete when we encounter the stuff.
Not sure what you mean by type 2 thinset. (Mapei Ultraflex 2?)
The best way to waterproof a wal is by using stuff made for that under tile. TEC's Tripleflex is awesome stuff. Schluter Kerdi. Nobleseal TS. Custom's Redguard.Laticrete 9235, or blue 92. Merkrete's Hydroguard. This list could go on a long time but It's late and I think I made the point? Use stuff made for tile.

I contacted the company that manufacturs Dry Loc and they said, do not use it in a shower where something has to be adheared to it. It can only be painted. Thanks for the help, Monte
