Drywall

11/04/2002 12:25 PM ubugme

I recently purchased a double wide manufactured house. I have replaced the entire floor of the house do to a hot water heater explosion while I was away on vacation. I was going to build a house behind this one, but now I have way to much money tied up in this one to have it hauled off. I had a foundation put underneith of it, and am now wondering about the drywall. As with most manufactured houses it has that vinyl covered no paint paneling. My question is can I get away with covering it up with some 1/4" or 3/8" drywall? I want the "residential" look of the drywall, but I don't want to tear the house apart to accomplish it. Would the extra weight of the drywall cause structural problems later on? Also I would like to replace the aluminum frame, leaky, trailer windows. Should the windows be done before, during or after the drywall? I intend to do these projects while living in it, so it will be 1 room at a time. I fanyone knows what to do with these topics please let me know.
Thanks
