Checking

** Kenmore dryer **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

- Model Number Tag Search

Does the ignitor ever glow??

No ignitor glow

Than someone has a lot of checking to do. :/

One of the first things that might need testing is to see whether power is getting to the gas burner assembly when the dryer is calling for heat. If it WAS getting power, than checking the components of the burner itself would be required.

If the burner was NOT getting power, checking the components of the temperature control circuit would be required. An open thermal fuse might be most suspect.

You might get lucky and the problem could just be a broken ignitor (see the following link) which should be able to be determined with just a simple continuity test of it.

(The original could look different)

Please clarify

If these two statements of yours are correct, "Power is getting to the ignitor" and "the ignitor nevers glows", than logic would suggest you must have a defective ignitor.

Thanks for the links and infromation. Based on the links, logic tells me that there is no way to test the ignitor, correct?

Resistance

** is there no way to test the ignitor **

It can be tested for continuity or resistance. It would have to have infinite or really high resistance (ie. no continuity) to not glow *at all* when powered. If it had any resistance it should glow when powered.
