Bjorn,

There are numerous books out there, not sure what you would want to focus on...You might want to try the library to get some ideas before you drop too many $$$.

That said, here are some that you might look for:
1 - American Furniture, the Federal Period by Charles Montgomery. This is a Winterthur book and is available in reprints or used books pretty inexpensively. Lots of examples, good color photos of inlays and marquetry.
2 - Furniture Masterworks of John and Thomas Seymour, by Robert Mussey. This is an awesome book but will run you around $135-250.
3 - Treasures of State, by Clement Conger. Details all the furniture in the Department of State. By the way this collection is available to the public for free, but you need to sign up in advance and go through a background check. One of my favorites, also has chippendale and QA furniture.
4 - Michael Dunbar has a book with plans on Federal Furniture that you might be interested in. The above books are all museum catalog types that will not have any drawings.

I could go on and on, acquiring books can be every bit as addicting as tools, at least in my experience.

Good luck in your search. Cal
