After three years of research, I've decided on fiberglass window replacement, total tear out. I've narrowed it down to three companies; Fibertec, Fiberframe (Comfort Line) and Inline Fiberglass. Has anyone used any of these or perhaps another line besides Anderson, Milgard, MW or Marvin? I have read all your comments and appreciate everything everyone has said. Dealing with replacement companies is a real treat. This is one industry that needs a total rehaul!!

We carry the Milgard,Comfortline and are looking at the Inline. We also sold some of the Marvin new construction fiberglass units. We had some issues with the Marvin's, nothing serious but felt they hadn't advanced to the level of the other three. Milgard's douglas fir interior if your looking for a wood interior is the nicest of the bunch and covers the jamb liner which most don't. Comfortline and Inline's oak interior would rank second and Marvins stainable interior third. In as far as energy efficiency Inline offers higher performing glass packages but not really necessary unless your way up North. Milgard now offers Super Spacer and Sun Coat Max which gets your u-value close to .30. Both Marvin and Comfortline's glass is made by Cardinal using the XL Edge a very good glass pack both around .30 One of our concerns with all fiberglass products for this part of the country (Wisconsin) is the cavity filling. Another fiberglass company out of Canada (Accurate Dorwin) addresses this with foam filling. Because the lineals have large hollows the interior of the frames get pretty cold and can have condensation, the foam filling eliminates that as fiberglass is not a natural insulator like wood or vinyl.
Were a proponent of fiberglass products and believe properly installed should be the last window anyone would ever need. Good luck with your research.

Thanks so much for your response Windowmann2000, this certainly has been a journey. I live in the southeast, 100 miles south of Atlanta. While we don't have the extreme cold (although we can) we do have extreme heat. I'm from Michigan originally so I know what your talking about. My home is Dryvit (EFIS) and neither Milgard or Marvin warranties EFIS homes, bummer. I currantly have wood casement windows which almost span floor to ceiling. katmartin-- Just wanted to let you know about Pella's Impervia window. You certainly have made a great decision about wanting fiberglass windows for your home. One thing you should be cognizant of is how these (fiberglass) windows are made. katmartin, how's your quest going. For your area I think Marvin would be best. Get the glass with the best SHGC # from them and the window will serve you well and if the price is not competitive look at Comfortlines Next Generation, another good choice. Pella.....NO

Ha, quest it is!! I emailed Accurate Dorwin, the company you suggested. It took a couple of weeks but I finally got a reply. He asked what size windows I need and I emailed back that I'd like the best method of measuring and asked for suggestions. That's been many weeks ago, geeze.I do have his name and number so maybe I should just call. I told him of my experience with replacement window companies, hopefully they don't use the same tactics, maybe I scared him off, LOL. I do have AAMA's video and handbook which I need to read. Unfortunately, Marvin is not warrantied in EIFS (Dryvit) homes so their out. Are you still impressed with Accurate Dorwin? You've been the only one to respond, except a rep. from Pella, no thank you, ha. THANKS A MILLION!!! It'd be nice to have someone with experience measure all my windows.
