Finding a Landscaper

Although I deal mainly with arborists, many of them also do landscaping. Finding a professional landscaper is similar to finding a professional arborist, in my opinion.

They should definitely have insurance; I wouldn’t let them on my property without it. It is easy for them to provide you with proof of insurance. Most insurance companies can mail or fax a copy of the insurance certificate the same day.

You should ask if they belong to any professional landscape associations and if they have any formal education or training. Some areas my require licenses, ask to see theirs. Ask for references. You can also check the Better Business Bureau to find information about companies in your area.

Get at least three estimates, in writing, and don’t always accept the lowest bid. You do get what you pay for.

This should get you started. Please let me know if you have any questions.
