I am about to start framing a 20x24 garage with a 10x24 boat cover area off the back. The garage will have an 18” overhang on the truss. On the boat area, do you build the beam pocket into the garage corner to maintain the overhang or do you set the beam in 6” from the corner and make 24” overhangs around the boat area? I would like to keep the 18” if it is sound construction.
