I have both of these nailers. I use the coil type for applying roof shingles. It is the right type of nail for this purpose.
The strip nailer can occupy various lengths of nails. I use this for all the major framing projects, especialy 2 by construction. I have also used it for siding and other building projects.
The gas powered nailers are needed when compressed air is not available.
