I have hot water baseboard heat and an EKO Boiler hooked up to my regular furnace. This morning I notice black soot on the wall behind the base board. My baseboard is the copperpipe with the fins.The black soot was in line with the fins. I thought hot water baseboard is sealed. How can the soot come out from the baseboard?
What should I do? This has never happened before. I hooked up the EKO boiler to my furnace back in January of this year. Any suggestions would be apprecated

It can't and if it was soot being carried by the hot water it would likely more resemble mud or dirty water and leak out onto the floor not wall.

All heat sources create air convection currents around them. Anything in the air will be circulated somewhat by those currents. Whatever the black material is it is likely just being deposited there because of those air currents.

Someone would need to determine what the material actually is and where is is originating from. If it really is "soot", do you burn candles?

If not, have any/all gas heating appliances *professionally* checked out. It could be a sign of an improperly burning flame which could be a carbon monoxide source. VERY dangerous!
