Try Dale Electric. They had a few a couple years ago. They may have more. The other option, and it is not good, is to go to the newer plates. I don't think the new plates come in a 3 switch 1 gang horizontal configuration.

Several different styles of switches have been used and they have different faceplate. The ones that Dale has and the ones shown in the GE catalog (links above) use a rocker style switch.

Mine use a lever switch and take a different coverplate. You might have to replace switch also to get a matching coverplate.

But here are a couple of options to look at. If these where used in a number of tract homes look for full line hardware stores in the area. They often will have specialty items used in those homes.


Try some older electrical supply houses. But take an old coverplate.

If they are like the ones that I have they appear to use a Sierra Modular system. This was a bracket that would take upto 3 devices. Sierra had switches, pilot lights, and receptacles (ungrounded) that would fit in there and you would get 1,2 or 3 hole coverplates.

I don't have one to compare with, but from memory they are the same and the mounting brack and coverplate on mine say Sierra.

I can't tell for sure, but they appear to be the same as these.

Those plates you identified are for the old Despards switch, pilot lights, receptacles.

I believe suep44 is looking for teh GE LV switches. There is a link to the GE catalog page for both switches and plates near the top of this thread. I last bought some of the switches about a year ago.

No she was looking for coverplates and said that her switch where different.


Mine are a lever switch. Sorta like this "short lever switch"

The ge link has the switches that are similar to mine..Mine look a little different in that the space between the on/off/up/down, is wider, I did buy some of the plate covers a while back from a local electical supplier and at that time I bought whatever he had, which wasn't many, he did say nobody uses them anymore...I just can't seem to find any other place that has a few more....

Whenever I have had work done in my house I had the electrical changed, now have normal plates, controls etc. because nobody seemed to know how this house is wired....

From the photos of your old GE low voltage switches and coverplates I can see that I have the exact same system as you do/did. If you replaced your switches with an updated design, I would love to have your old coverplates. Several of mine are broken. Fortunately, the switches are in fine shape.

Actually, it turned out that we didn't need to replace the cover plates. The switches my electrician used fit in them fine. (And we have now sold that house.) Sorry!
