I have a GE washer model # WHDSR209D1WW, and the timer knob is not working correctly. Apparenly it is not connecting properly with the Dial Knob Skirt (or the metal piece that the clip spring connects to)and just spins loosely.

The Clip Spring is attached, the Dial Knob Skirt works correctly, it's just the knob. Could it be a loose Clip Spring?

Can anyone help?

No. All the clip does is hold the knob onto the control shaft to keep it from falling off.

There are 'teeth' on the underside of the knob (see the following link) which could be worn and preventing proper contacts with the timer.

The teeth itself on the underside of the knob appear to be in good condition. I went to the site you recommended and looked at the underside of the knob and noticed two little vertical pieces (located North & South) within the teeth. I don't recall seeing those two pieces. Are they apart of the knob or the clip spring, and could that be the main problem?

Than there may be a problem with the mating surface on the timer's shaft:

No because the timer shaft goes through that area and anything there would get broken off once installed on the timer. I can only assume they are leftovers from the plastic molding process of the knob.
