GE microwave spacesaver jvm1440wh01, fuse??

07/28/2005 08:20 AM perdidojoe

I've had my microwave 3 months. I was heating food and it shut down, lights, clock the whole thing.
No breakers were tripped. All house breakers were flipped off and back on, nothing.
Does it have a fuse in it?
Thanks

Microwave Fuse

Yes it does (as well as a number of other safety devices) but the cabinet would have to be opened to get to it.

If it is only 3-months old it should be under warranty in which case you should call for service so they can try to find out what caused the fuse to blow so it can be corrected. Fuses do not usually blow on their own.

I am having the same problem with my microwave. It shut down the same way I reset all the breakers (none were tripped) and unplugged it and replugged but nothing. The next day it all the lights and the turntable were working but it would not heat food. Is there a fuse if so where is it? My microwave is about 2 year old is there any hope or should I buy a new one?

NOT fuse

The only fuse in a microwave oven would stop the whole unit if blown, not just its heating. If it is doing anything at all, its internal fuse if NOT the problem in which case investigation would be needed to determine the cause of the problem.
