Not usually. Like every other problem, actual investigation is usually required to determine the cause... or at least the exact symptoms of the failure (eg. just not filling, just not dumping, etc.).


** Could it be something as simple as a bad filter? **

IF the water filter in your fridge also filters the water to the icemaker (not all do) AND the problem with the icemaker is just not filling AND the water dispenser on the fridge is also not working, than yes, it might be one possibility.
