My neighbor and I have a Sears 1/2 HP garage door opener. The problem is whenever they open their door both doors open. How can we slove this problem. I've called Sears they told me to push the square orange button on the opener at the same time push the large thumb button on the remote to change the frequency. That was not the answer. |

You must first clear all existing codes to your garage door opener.
This is done by pressing and holding the "learn" button (square orange button) until the light goes out (approx. 6 seconds). Once you have done this, you have now erased all previous codes.(including your neighbors).
Now you have to re-enter all remotes separately that you want to operate your garage door.
This is done by again pressing the "learn" button (square orange button on the motor unit).
The learn indicator light will glow steadily for about 30 seconds.
Within this 30 seconds, you must press and hold the selected push button on the hand-held remote.
Now release the button on remote when the motor unit light blinks.(two clicks can be heard). It now has learned the code from your hand-held remote.
Now you and your neighbor can enjoy separate identities again.
