I have the Craftsman 1/2 Garage Door Opener Model 139.53975SRT1.

I've put the unit on my test bench and wired up the controller and the sensors and removed the cover.

I can manually spin the motor to put the unit in the Door fully closed position.

Then I plug it in and press the button on the controller and the unit starts going through the process of opening the door. I can press the button again and it will stop. Pressing the button once more will resume the opening process until it is complete.

Pressing the button after the door has fully opened is supposed to close the door but it does not. All I get is a click and then a pause of about three seconds and then another click and then the green light on the side of the unit will slowly blink five times, pause and then blink another five time and repeat.....

I've checked the sensors and they are aligned and in good working order. I've checked all the wiring and everything looks good.

I'm thinking I may need to replace either the receiver logic board or the 1/2hp capacitor but I'm not sure. Is the motor failing to get proper power from the capacitor to go in reverse or is the logic board confusing the request?

Any body got Ideas?
