Garage Lighting

Looking to put some lights in the garage but I am wondering what would be the best choice for the cold in the garage. I have fluorescents now but they really dim in the very cold weather.

You can use flourescents in the garage. You could put in a H.O. fixture which is fairly expensive or you could retrofit your existing fixtures to T8lamps with electronic ballasts. You can also buy these fixtures. The electronic ballasts are generally not influence by cooler ambient temps.

I used 8' cold weather fixtures. They cost about $30 each and the tubes are $6 each. They give off plenty of light.

Concur with the recommendation to use electronic ballast and the T8 bulbs. Are more expensive but minimally affected by cold and then 'warm up'. Will not have 'flicker & buzzing'.
